This book, Familiar Garden Flowers, was a classic in its day. It isn’t dated – but having done a little research it would appear to be from the late 1800s. This was a real find, unearthed in a very dusty, chaotic shop on a recent book hunting day.
The cover of the book is very plain and rather tired looking, giving little clue to the fabulous illustrations inside. When I work on a book, it feels to me as if I am liberating the pictures, allowing them to reach a new audience who would almost certainly not have seen them otherwise.
